Birdcage Tea Bar

I have always been a coffee girl but here lately I have found that a hot cup of tea is so comforting. A couple of weeks ago, as David was finishing up the last few things needed to register with the university, I wandered in to a sweet little tea bar in the heart of Stellenbosch.

I had read about the tea bar on The Pretty Blog before coming to Stellenbosch so I was very excited to see it for myself. It is a beautiful little shop with an eclectic mix of chairs with rustic white wooden tables. The walls are decorated with the prettiest and most dainty plates and wreath chandeliers hang from the ceiling.

In honor of my Nonna, I ordered my dessert first, a delicious red velvet cupcake with cream cheese icing and a teapot of the peach and raspberry tea. After finishing my cupcake, I decided I might need a little something more for lunch so I ordered a great little sandwich and chips.

It was such a nice place to come across. I’m looking forward to wandering in to a few more hidden gems around town this year!

2inn1 Kensington Boutique Hotel

2inn1 Kensington is the place to stay if you are traveling to Cape Town, South Africa. My dad, having stayed here just over a year ago, knew this was the best way to start our stay here in South Africa and graciously book a room for us for a few nights.

"2inn1 Kensington is a stylishly renovated Boutique Hotel situated in the quiet and prestigious residential area of Cape Town next to the city center. Flanked by the imposing slopes of Table Mountain and Lion's Head, 2inn1 Kensington combines an authentically, stylishly remodeled Victorian house and a modern designed bungalow."

After a long two days of flying, the hotel had arranged transportation from the airport and we were greeted by the wonderful staff and a much needed cup of cappuccino when we arrived! They have a delicious breakfast every day complete with made to order eggs, waffles and french toast!

Our room was beautifully decorated with luxurious African and modern touches along with even a chocolate on your pillow each night!

2inn1 Kensington is close to all the great things that Cape Town has to offer like Table Mountain, Waterfront, Lion's Head, Signal Hill, coffee shops, bars, restaurants, beaches and the city center. But we also enjoyed relaxing by their lovely pool and enjoying happy hour wine and snacks at night!

We enjoyed our stay so much that we have book a weekend getaway back at 2inn1 for our anniversary in August!

** All photos are from the 2inn1 website! I took my own but they didn't turn out near as good!

Where in the World?

Earlier this year, I let you, my sweet followers, in on a little secret! It was back in January when I shared my Word of the Year- Trust and my little hint was this....

"David and I have a big year ahead of us! We will be making a BIG move (and by big, I mean like over an ocean big). Well... the big move won't be until this time next year but the preparations and all that leading up to it will take a lot of trusting and leaning on God."

Now that we have shared it with family, friends, and bosses and know that it is for sure going to happen- I thought I would let you in on where it is that we are moving!

But you have to guess first!! : )

My husband will frequently visit this place.....

And I hope to do a lot of this....

Any guesses? I will post links to the images here soon!!

The Doors of Ukraine

We had a wonderful time in Ukraine visiting my brother-in-law and celebrating our first anniversary. Matt has been there for the past two years teaching English with the Peace Corps. We started in the capital, Kiev, and then went to Dnipropetrovsk, which is a larger town near where Matt has been living. We then spent three days in Odessa which is a lovely town on the coast of the Black Sea and then spent a day in Verhnyodniprovsk, the small town that Matt lives and teaches in, before traveling back to Kiev to fly home.

I have always had a thing for doors and windows when I travel! I was glad to see I was not the only person to snap tons of pictures of doors in foreign cities. Meredith at Welcome to Heardmont posted about The Doors of Paris from her recent trip abroad and it inspired me to do a post of the Doors of Ukraine.

I had my camera around my neck the entire trip and got a few crazy looks from my husband and brother-in-law as I snapped photo after photo of doors and windows. But these photos turned out to be some of my favorite pictures from the trip!

The Windows of Ukraine

Which door is your favorite? Window?
My favorite is the royal blue door and the green window!

This is not a door or window but I thought it was pretty!
