The first step is to find fonts you like and install them on your computer. There are hundreds of free fonts available online if you simply search for them at sites like Dafont and Kevin and Amanda and many, many more. If you have a PC here are some simple instructions on how to install your new fonts. Once you’ve installed your fonts you can get to work creating your own word art!
I changed the one line with my husband and my name to be a reddish color. The rest are all the same gray.
And I made sure the dimensions of the word art would print out the size of an 8" x 10" picture.
This time I changed up the font and color on each line. I printed this one to be a 5" x 7"
After I printed them off, I placed them in simple frames with white mattes. I thought they turned out pretty good for a Mircosoft Word piece of art!
What fun artsy things have you done on your computer? Do you have more skills when it comes to the actually programs made to do these kinds of things? Any tips on how to make graphic art on other programs such as photoshop?

ReplyDeleteI love these! I found your blog during the last Pinterest challenge and have become an avid reader! So glad you linked up again! I love this word art and I can't wait to try some of my own!!!
ReplyDeleteI love it!
ReplyDeleteGreat job! Your Word Art came out so cute!! By the way, I'm totally with you on using Microsoft Office (and PowerPoint) to do crafts. If I can't do it in Office, then I can't do it at all! For the Pinterest Challenge, I actually make a photo collage in the shape of the number "1" for my husband for our first wedding anniversary - using PowerPoint, haha.

I love your blog and your work! What font did you use for the "moosehead lodge" line?
ReplyDeleteThank you!
Hi Jenn! Thanks for your comment! The "moosehead lodge" font is called Jellyka Delicious Cake and I found it at dafont.com
ReplyDeleteDo you print these from you home printer or have them printed somewhere professional?
ReplyDeleteI have been playing with word are lately. I was wondering how you print these? Do you print from your home printer or have them done at some place like kinkos?
ReplyDeleteThanks!
Mackenzie- I printed this off at my office with a commercial copier/printer but otherwise I would have sent it to a copy center to print.
ReplyDeleteDo you have a list of the names you used, typed, so we can copy and paste?
ReplyDeleteAnthony & Cleopatra
ReplyDeleteBarbie & Ken
Fred Flintstone & Wilma Slaghoople
Superman & Lois Lane
Mickey & Minnie Mouse
Romeo & Juliet
YOUR COUPLES NAMES
Homer Simpson & Marge Bouvier
Hansel & Gretel
Herman & Lily Munster
Lady & Tramp
John Lennon & Yoko Ono
Samson & Delilah
Lancelot & Guinevere
Bonnie & Clyde
Fred Astaire & Ginger Rogers
You're awesome! Thanks. I'm going to make this today. My sister is getting married this weekend!!
DeleteAlso, would it be too much trouble to list all the fonts, for both pieces? I want to replicate these as closely as possible.
DeleteFor the couples word art I used "Scribble Box" for all. The other piece is like this:
Delete{skinny} jeans
Emmy 3D
KG Dancing on the Rooftop
the Blue Cabin (of= Highland Perk) the Blue Cabin
Fat Wedge
Jellyka Delicious Cake
I found most of these on dafont.com and other free font websites I found through Pinterest.
Just found this via Pinterest...thanking for an awesome tutorial on how to do this so easily, I was wanting to do it but had no idea where to start or even find the fonts. Awesome, can see some great gifts getting sorted now
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute idea! How do you get the text to fill the width of the text box? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteNJJan- I used Word Art under Insert-Picture. The words will fill the text box and you can adjust the height and width.
ReplyDeleteThanks Laura- I think I must have a different version of Word..I googled Word Art tutorial and I have a different set-up in my tool bar. Have to go to another computer! I have 2 weddings coming up--I'm determined to make these for shower gifts!
ReplyDeletejust out of interest....how did you get the heart in the middle of your names, I just don't seem to be able to get a heart to be placed in word art??
ReplyDeleteVery cute! I do have to tell you: Hansel & Gretel are brother and sister. :D
ReplyDeleteI've been fighting with this for a little while now. I can't get my wordart to stretch to fit the page and it doesn't change in size for me either. I'm using Word 2010. Any ideas?
ReplyDeleteAshley- when you click on the word art you have inserted, there should be little blue dots that pop up on the corners and edges. If you click and drag one of the dots, you can stretch the words to fit the page or whatever size you want to make it. Font size doesn't matter- just drag the corner or edge dot and stretch to the size you want.
ReplyDeleteI second the question above, where does the heart come from? I did the ALT+3 but it doesn't look like your heart...your's is cuter
DeleteI figured it out!
ReplyDeleteSelect your WordArt.
Click on Drawing Tools Format at the top to get the menu.
Select Text Effects-> Transform-> the first item under "Warp"
Thank you!!
DeleteThat's if you're using word 2010, it will allow you to stretch the text to fit the page. Laura, I can't figure out how to make sure it's 8x10 size without printing multiple times and adjusting. What are you doing?
ReplyDeleteI try to line it up with the "rulers" at the top and side of the screen. I still had to print off a few simply because each frame can be just slightly different than another of the same size. But that will get you close to the size of the print.
DeleteThanks! At least I know it's not wasted effort :)
DeleteI downloaded the font you used for the couples names art. How did you make the heart? I don't see it
ReplyDeleteThe heart is just clip art that I found through Microsoft Word. You can also google "heart clip art" and see if you find something you like.
DeleteI am having a heck of a time with this. Sounds easy enough--but I can not find Drawing Tools Format at the top to get the menu to stretch my words. Can someone help? Is it possible to email me their document and I can change the bride and groom names?
ReplyDeleteI think of myself as kinda computer savvy but can not get this! :)
Thanks!

I love, love, love this - but I have to point out that it's Antony & Cleopatra, not Anthony. No H. Also, aren't Hansel & Gretel brother & sister?
ReplyDeleteLove that you made this in Word. That's my program of choice, as well.
Hi what was the name of the font you used for 2011?
ReplyDeletethey are great pics by the way thanks for sharing x
Sian- I would love to help but I didn't see a 2011. Which font are you looking for?
DeleteIn the Mr & Mrs Tucker picture the year is 2011. I am also interested as to what this font is.
DeleteThanks
shannan
Oh I see. But I didn't make that print, I just used it as inspiration so I don't know the font. I'm sorry I can't help.
Deletehi Laura,
ReplyDeleteI love this! It seems so easy and clever, but I don't know how to select the 'couples names' to make them red?
is it possible to email me the document so i can just change the names?
bec_beazley@hotmail.com
thank you
Hi Laura,
ReplyDeleteI have been trying to for days to recreate the couples names but cannot get it. Can you email me the document or template for it? Thanks
reubi-jramos@hotmail.com
Hello. The file I created for this word art is saved on an old office computer back home in the States and I am currently living abroad so I don't have access to it. I am willing to recreate one for you and sell it to you. All I would need from you is the names and information you would like to include and payment through PayPal. Please email me at lorrinteriors@gmail.com if you are interested.
DeleteThis brilliant and you sweetie are brilliant

Hi Anne,
DeleteWhich print are you interested in? I can try to play with it and see if I can get it in to a circle but I am no graphic artist. I have only created these prints in Microsoft Word. Please send me an email at lorrinteriors@gmail.com with details of what you are looking for and we can try and go from there! Thank you!!
What font did you use for all the names?
ReplyDeleteFor the couples word art I used "Scribble Box" for all. The other piece is like this:
