Wedding Planning!

If anyone follows my Pinterest boards you might have noticed my pins lately seem to all have a theme in common!

I'm so excited to be planning another wedding!! I had so much fun planning my own and I'm so happy that my sister is letting me be involved in the planning process of hers! We have had a blast getting started! I gave her a file pocket folder for her to keep ideas, brochures, calendars and receipts in like I used in for staying organized and her first bridal magazine!

We have checked out some locations, bought a few decorations, had pizza and planning parties and shopped a little for fun dresses for showers and rehearsal dinner!
I can't wait to really get going! They are looking at getting married on August 4th! Only three days before mine and my hubby's second anniversary! I see anniversary trips together in our future!!

Do you have any DIY wedding tips? How to save a little money and where the best place is to find decorations, dresses, etc.?

  1. FUN! I love wedding planning! I'm actually helping a friend with her September wedding and I've been loving looking for and sending her inspiration. I'm excited to see how your sister's wedding turns out!

  2. If applicable, have the wedding at a church. They usually only require a donation of $100-200. Way cheaper than renting a wedding site and a reception site.

We saved a ton of money doing a appetizer buffet. It is way cheaper than a plated meal.

For table decorations find something that you have a lot of: mason jars, vases, candles, whatever. That makes your table decorations free! Just add flowers if needed.

For flowers consider grocery stores with a floral department. In my town, the same truck that delivered to the fancy florist also went to Kroger!

If she's open to it, consider wearing a family member's old wedding dress or finding one at a consignment shop. I had my grandma's dress altered for only a few hundred dollars!

Keep the bridal party small. Less hassle, less gifts, less questions about shoes and jewelry, less everything.

My DJ offered a discount if we paid cash. Ask EVERY vendor if they have something similar.

Make his family step up to the plate!

You can buy a $300 camcorder and pay your 11 year old cousin $100 for way less than a videographer.

Whatever you do - do NOT skimp on a photographer. Those still photos will be the only lasting memory she will have. Get a rock star photog that fits in the budget, but do NOT cut corners and opt for someone she's luke-warm about.

Hope those ideas help!!! Have fun planning!
