House {Cabin} Crashing- Moosehead Lodge

My aunt and uncle own a gorgeous cabin up on Petit Jean Mountain. We have come up here for family get-togethers like Thanksgiving and Father's Day but also just for weekends to get away since I was young. My uncle bought it 20 years ago and it was always the same cozy and warm cabin as I remember from my childhood. A little over a year ago, the second floor flooded and fell through to the basement. This has led to some major renovations and let me tell you, the cabin is absolutely wonderful! Still has that cozy cabin feel but in a fresh new way! So without further ado, Welcome to Moosehead Lodge!
I apologize for the iPhone pictures. I left my camera at home.
From the front you enter into the basement. It has a cozy fireplace and lots of seating to cuddle up and kick your feet up. The basement used to have a couple of bedrooms but they have taken those out and made it one large room. It will soon be made into a bunk room with bunks lining the back wall.
The new bathroom is AH-MAZING with the new stone shower and green walls! The antler pulls on the drawers add a fun touch.

After going up these {stunning} two toned stairs....
you land in the "new" den. Before this space was a glass entryway that was rarely used. This is a great use for this space as it adds seating to the living room.
The second/main floor is one great space. The living, kitchen and dining are all open allowing the natural light spread from the front to the back. It too has a great fireplace and cozy furniture.
The kitchen has been updated with concrete counter tops with a copper covered island and shelves above the river stone backsplash.

The drawer pulls are also copper.
The third floor is the Master Suite which is all open.
The bed is hand carved with a moose head...
and I love that kilim rug...
The bathroom is {maybe a little too} open {for me} but still pretty awesome with a shower head in the ceiling.
and off of the Master Bedroom is a large private deck. What a great place to have a cup of coffee!
Below that deck is a back porch that is open from the main floor. Both double doors open to allow the living space to continue out onto the flagstone patio.
I love the charm of the rusty tin ceiling they installed and the industrial feel to the lights.
And who wouldn't love that view!!
Check back tomorrow to see more of the lovely property- including the new vineyard and wine shelter!

  1. What an amazing place to have in your family! The inside is such a perfect cozy retreat for a weekend away ... and that view? I'd be sitting outside day dreaming the entire time I was there :)
